Two states for two peoples... on two sides of the Jordan

At a conference on Sunday about a two-state solution on the two banks of the Jordan River (Jews to the West, Arabs to the East), the results of a poll were released that indicated that 19% of Israeli Jews support the idea of Jordan being the 'Palestinian state.' But most Israeli Jews don't expect it to happen, and they support... the status quo.

Some 19 percent of Jewish Israelis prefer to

Where is Israel's Tamarod?

Interesting comment from Dan Friedman in New York City.

There is something to be said for the anger and courage of the Egyptian
people. Even though their motivations, and their goals, may not be our own,
still, they are willing to give it their all. So where is Israel's Tamarod ("Rebel") movement? Where is Israel’s
appreciation that it has everything to lose if they stay on the current

Asia to replace Europe as Israel's biggest trading partner?

In light of last month's publication of Europe's Nuremberg guidelines, which seek to force Israel to declare that Judea, Samaria, 'east' Jerusalem and the Golan Heights are not part of our country, there are increasing calls in Israel to turn away from Europe toward Asia as its main trading partner. Here's former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Dore Gold.

FIFA threatens to expel Israel

FIFA, the world soccer federation, is threatening to expel Israel over its refusal to allow 12 Arab National Federation teams into the 'Palestinian territories' to play in the West Asian Football Federation under-17 championship tournament that was due to begin on Thursday. But Israel didn't refuse to allow the entire teams in - only certain suspicious individuals.

The Onion does the 'settlements'

Imagine if the Onion did a piece on the 'settlements.' Oh wait, you don't have to imagine. They've done one.

As part of their continuing efforts to bring peace to the
conflict-stricken region, Israeli government officials announced today
the construction of a new settlement on Palestinian lands where future
peace talks can be held. “After years of failed diplomacy, it has become

EU claims US 'quietly supporting' settlement sanctions

A senior European official told an Israeli diplomat last week that the United States is 'quietly supporting' Europe's sanctions against Israeli 'settlements' according to Haaretz's Barak Ravid.

Last week, senior Foreign Ministry officials said, Ambassador to the
European Union David Walzer met with Helga Schmid, the deputy secretary
general of the European External Action Service and one of

This is rich: Radical Left holds conference highlighting North Tel Aviv's past as a 'Palestinian' village

One of the deep, dark secrets of Israel's Left is that most of North Tel Aviv, the swankiest part of the country with the possible exceptions of Herzliya's Kfar Shmaryahu and Savion, and the most Leftist part of the country with the possible exception of Red Haifa, is largely built on the remains of a 'Palestinian' village called Sheikh Munis, which was abandoned by the 'Palestinians' in 1948.

Lapid blasts his own government for trying to create affordable housing

Finance Minist4er Yair Lapid has blasted his own government for putting out tenders for 1,187 housing units in 'east' Jerusalem and in the 'settlement blocs.'

According to the ministry, 793 of the new homes will be in Jewish
neighborhoods of east Jerusalem. It includes 400 new units in Gilo, 210
in Har Homa and 183 in Pisgat Ze'ev.

In addition it plans to
publish tenders for 394 new

Judea and Samaria: No perfect answers

Captain Barak Raz is finishing up his tour of duty on Sunday as the IDF Spokesperson for Judea and Samaria. On Friday, he posted this blog summing up his two years on the job.

This incident reinforced something that I
always try to explain: the threat is real. The lack of “successful”
terror attacks from the West Bank in recent years should never be
confused with a lack of motivation or

Israel to EU: 'Take your guidelines and put them where the sun don't shine'

Israel has rejected the European Union's guidelines that exclude Judea and Samaria from Israel. The government decided today that it will not enter into any agreements with Europe that are based upon the new guidelines. The government also accused the Europeans of 'significantly damaging' the 'peace process' with the 'Palestinians' by publishing the guidelines.

Israel will not enter into any

79% of Israeli Jews expect 'peace talks' to fail

Someone at the JPost needs to fix the headline (hopefully they will by the time you see this post). 79% of Israeli Jews don't believe the newest round of 'peace talks' will succeed. What a shock....
The poll found that seventy-nine percent of Israeli Jews think the new
round of negotiations have a low chance of success of yielding a peace
agreement, while 18% believe they have a high chance

Government discriminating against Haredim again?

The Left is unhappy because despite the 'peace process' the government voted on Sunday to designate more cities and towns in Judea and Samaria as 'national preference areas.' Both residents and businesses in 'national preference areas' are entitled to tax advantages.

Among the new settlements that will be eligible for preferential grants
because of security reasons are Rehalim, Bruchin and

The 'phased plan' is alive and well

After the Yom Kippur War, the Arab states realized that there was no way they were going to be able to destroy Israel militarily in one fell swoop. Therefore, in 1974, the PLO adopted a new plan which is known as the 'Phased Plan.'

The plan in brief:

Through the "armed struggle" (i.e., terrorism),
to establish an "independent combatant national authority" over any
territory that is "

When the 'peace talks' inevitably fail, who will be blamed

Like most of the legacy media, the Washington Post is already preparing to blame the 'settlements' for the inevitable failure of the current 'peace talks' between Israel and the 'Palestinians.'

In the past five years, the population of Jewish settlements in the
West Bank has grown by about 20 percent, and pro-settler politicians
have become major players in Israel’s government.

Here in the

By the way, what shape is the table going to be?

For those too young to remember, I discussed the shape of the table in the Paris peace talks that were supposed to end the Vietnam war here. When it comes to Israel and the 'Palestinians,' the shape of the table may be the only thing about which there has thus far been no argument.

This time "all of the issues that are at the core of a permanent
accord will be negotiated simultaneously",

Europe whines

In response to Europe's attempt to impose the 1949 armistice lines on the State of Israel, Israel has stopped cooperating with European projects to benefit the 'Palestinians' in Judea and Samaria, effectively cutting off those projects. In response, Europe is whining.

The
Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Defense
Minister Moshe Ya'alon had decided to suspend
