Danon: Netanyahu has no place in the Likud

Oh my....

Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu has "no place in Likud" should he sign a peace deal with the
Palestinians, Deputy Defense Minister and Likud MK Danny Danon said on
Sunday.

Speaking to an audience of Likud activists in
Judea and Samaria, Danon, who won the fifth spot on the Likud party list
and who chairs the Likud Central Committee, was critical of the prime
minister's

Former NSC Chief Eiland: Obama nixed Netanyahu's attack on Iran

Former National Security Council Chief Giora Eiland says that Prime Minister Netanyahu had decided to attack Iran, but called it off due to pressure from President Hussein Obama (Hat Tip: Sunlight).

The Mida website quoted statements reportedly made by Eiland, the
former head of the National Security Council, in a closed conference on
defense.

According to Eiland, “The Prime Minister

'Palestinians'' seek gripe session with Kerry

This is how US Secretary of State John Kerry is spending his time. No, not trying to rally support for a US strike on Syria. Instead, Kerry is spending his time listening to 'Palestinian' gripes over the 'peace process.'

The Palestinians are busily seeking to arrange a meeting between PA
Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and US Secretary of State John Kerry, Ramallah’s
foreign minister, Riyad al-Maliki

Can we trust Obama?

Hat Tip for the cartoon: MFS - The Other News.

Several American allies don't trust President Obama to carry out an attack on Syria. And in Israel, there is consternation over the fact that he is framing the attack on Syria in terms of protecting us, and fear of the consequences for Iran of the American decision, whatever it might be.

"If the Hill does not approve this, no one will believe

78% of Israeli Jews: 'Palestinians' won't see peace agreement as end of conflict

The monthly peace index for August is out, and to me this is the most striking finding.

Peace Agreement as End of Conflict: 78% of Jewish
respondents do not believe that the Palestinians would truly see the
signing of a peace agreement as marking the end of the conflict, while
20% do. 48% of Arab respondents do not believe so either, and 44% do
believe the peace agreement would mark the

Israeli diplomat in Turkey invited to official function for the first time since Mavi Marmara incident

An Israeli diplomat, Yosef Levi Sfari, Israel's charge d'affairs at its embassy in Ankara, was invited to an official Turkish function for the first time since he was posted to Ankara in 2011. It was also the first time any Israeli diplomat was invited to a Turkish function since the Mavi Marmara incident. Turkey's Daily Hurriyet tried to tie the story to Prime Minister Netanyahu's apology, but

Overwhelming majority of Israelis back US attack on Syria

Shavua tov, a good week to everyone.

A poll of Jewish Hebrew-speaking Israelis finds that 67% support an American attack on Syria.

While in the United States and
Great Britain, some 90 percent of the publics are opposed to such an
attack -- in Israel, more than 66% of the Jewish Hebrew-speaking
population supports an attack (only 17% opposes). With that, the exact
same percentage of the

Feiglin: Obama to pay for Syria complications with Israeli concessions

Knesset member Moshe Feiglin (Likud) worries that any complications from an Obama-initiated attack on Syria will be paid for with Israeli concessions.

In my evaluation, America's anticipated strike in Syria is part of a long-term US plan. If it wanted, America could have continued to blur the Syrian use of chemical weapons. Massacres happen all the time throughout the world; some are

Sometimes it really is more important to be right than to be wise

Hagai Segal on the final meltdown of relations between Israel and Turkey.

Contrary to its prior commitments, Ankara has yet to return its ambassador to Israel,
but it benefits from the thousands of Israeli tourists who returned to
Antalya. At this juncture, Turkey can be considered Israel’s most
bitter enemy in the region after Iran.

What
does this prove? That in contrast to the

#ObamaFail: Israel-Turkey 'normalization' negotiations break down

Negotiations to 'normalize' relations between Israel and Turkey have apparently broken down.

Israel and Turkey agreed to
start negotiations with the stated goal of bring relations back to
normal, including returning ambassadors to Ankara and Tel Aviv.

The negotiations, however, failed to produce
an agreement. According to government sources, the two issues that
caused the talks to

And you didn't think anyone was that blind anymore

On Sunday, Prime Minister Netanyahu found himself in the awkward position of having to explain to French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius that Israel's conflict with the 'Palestinians' is not the central conflict of the Middle East.

The root of the area’s instability, Netanyahu said in a public
statement made alongside Fabius before the two met in Jerusalem, is the regional
rejection of

And again: Israeli government minister declares 'two-state solution' dead

For the second time in three months, an Israeli government minister has officially declared the 'two-state solution' dead.

A two-state solution is an unrealistic resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict, Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel said on Sunday evening as
he helped dedicate two new neighborhoods of 160 homes in the West Bank
settlement of Kedumim.

“Those who are

Bennett: 'The truth is that the idea of a Palestinian state... is dead. The idea... has been proven as a killing machine'

This ought to endear Jewish Home party leader Naftali Bennett to Tzipi Livni and to the Obama administration. He says that the idea of a 'Palestinian state' is dead, and that it has been proven to be a killing machine.

“I’m aware that the Israeli government is conducting
negotiations with Abu Mazen,” Bennett wrote about Palestinian Authority chairman
Mahmoud Abbas.

'Palestinians' seethe, Israelis satisfied over Indyk's absence

The 'Palestinians' are seething at US facilitator Martin Indyk's exclusion from the 'peace talks' that are taking place in Israel, but the Israelis, who were never happy with Indyk's role, are quite pleased with his absence.

An Israeli source noted that the Palestinians are claiming that Indyk
should be actively involved in talks and should be sitting at the
negotiating table. Palestinian

Joe Biden's revenge: Building suspended in Ramat Shlomo

Remember when Joe Biden went bezerk over Jewish building in Jerusalem's Ramat Shlomo neighborhood when he was here three years ago? The plans for part of that building were finally approved in December 2012 after a delay because of the whole Biden affair. The bulk of the 1,500 new apartments that had received a preliminary approval while Biden was here were never finally approved.

Coalition crisis ahead: Livni complains to Israel Radio that 'Jewish Home' hinders peace

You could have seen this coming a mile away. Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, who is leading the 'peace talks,' complained to Israel Radio on Tuesday that having the 'Jewish Home' party in the coalition is 'hindering peace.'

Israel’s lead negotiator in peace talks with the Palestinian
Authority urged Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday to replace

Israel pushing United States to back Egyptian army?

In an earlier post, I reported that 'out friends the Saudis' were pushing the United States to continue to support the Egyptian army and that Israel was trying to stay out of the picture. Now, the New York Times reports that Israel is getting into the picture, and may begin openly pressing the United States to support the Egyptian army.

With the European Union planning an urgent review of its

With Egypt turning to Russia, Western diplomats accuse Israel of 'undercutting' Obama

Violence continued in Egypt on Saturday, as the Egyptian army attempted to shut down the Muslim Brotherhood. The Egyptians are so frustrated with the Obama administration that they are sending a diplomatic mission to Moscow, possibly signalling the undoing of a 35-year alliance (Hat Tip: Weasel Zippers).

As the situation in Egypt escalates, a source with very close ties
